canneed
CanNeed is a Chinese manufacturer of vision and measuring instruments and machines primarily for the can-making, brewery and beverage industries. In addition, their specialist equipment is an essential part of manufacturing in the mobile, automotive, medical and vision equipment sectors. This giant of business was formed by engineer and entrepreneur Albert Bai who founded CanNeed in 2006 and has built this company from just 3 employees to more than 120 employees based in multiple locations across Asia with the main manufacturing base being in Zhaoqing City in southern China.
What we did
The brief for Modus was to take CanNeed to a European audience through the creation of a website for the packaging part of the business initially, with a view to developing CanNeed into a global brand over a period of time. A Chinese audience is different to a European audience. The challenge was to turn the Chinese technical information about machines and specs with images into a website that delivered on the look and feel of the brand, rather than presenting the facts and expecting people to respond.
We worked with CanNeed’s European Vice President to come up with the initial concepts of a slight change to the logo and to try and ‘soften the edges’ of the Chinese brand for.a European audience. This was a successful approach as he was able to liaise between ourselves and the management decision makers in China. The website was designed to promote 25 machines with images and technical spec in a website that is visually pleasing in terms of colours, fonts and layout.
How it worked
The outcome was a website that ticks all the boxes and informs the visitor by piquing their interest in the machines rather than overwhelming them with facts and figures. In a world where CanNeed has to compete with American and European manufacturers, the range of products looks very professionally presented with clear descriptions about each machine in a format that’s easy to understand and with details to download.
The client was thrilled with the final outcome and after a short interlude, courtesy of Coronavirus, we will be starting work on the main global website as the next part of the project.
