Fortis ‘Youth on Board’ branding project

Modus has been designing and printing in the social housing sector for 10 years; originally for Worcester Community Housing and subsequently for Fortis Living (Formally WCH and Festival Housing) whom we rebranded in 2014

As lead graphic design agency we continue to work with this Worcestershire based Housing Association and get involved in some interesting creative projects that are often quite a creative challenge. The Fortis ‘Youth on Board’ branding project was both interesting and challenging from a creative design perspective and involved a group of young residents in a focus group, plenty of chocolate and biscuits and regular evening meetings!

The concept was to create a junior or youth representative ‘board’ with a voice in the community for this social housing group with 15,000 homes. The ‘youth board’ will be able to discuss issues and initiatives with the executive board and action youth and community projects across the 3 counties. We met the youth branding team at Malvern Foyer and for the next 6 weeks brainstormed and designed, created and amended. We set out and agreed a series of brand values and attributes which drove the brand image. Although the term YOB has negative connotations the Fortis youth board were determined that this was to be their name although alternatives were put forward and brand logos designed.

The brand design is vibrant, positive and engaging. Creatively it uses bright positive and vibrant colours and although it says YOB, it doesn’t! Clear typography and creative design present this new brand and the new Youth Board with positive impact.
